Occasionally, a stroke of serendipity leads to an idea so brilliant that you wonder why it hadn't surfaced earlier. Just such a moment occurred one evening in the 1970s at the esteemed Bar Masso nestled in the vibrant heart of Milan. Mirko Stocchetto, the visionary behind the bar, unintentionally substituted prosecco for gin while concocting a Negroni cocktail.
Much to everyone's delight, the outcome was a spritz-style concoction that proved to be a delightful surprise. This creation was fittingly christened the Negroni Sbagliato, where "sbagliato" translates to "mistaken" in Italian. And voilà, a new classic was born!
This charming variation on the classic Negroni, born from a fleeting oversight, exudes a playful elegance that's perfect for unwinding. Whether you're basking on a sun-drenched beach or enjoying a leisurely moment in a breezy locale, the Negroni Sbagliato stands as a splendid choice, inviting you to simply contemplate who is getting the next round in.
