I feel truly fortunate to have been commissioned to paint a place that holds a special place in my heart along the North East of England's coast: Longsands Beach. My aim was to capture the essence of this location—the glimmering golden sands blending seamlessly with the rugged charm of the rocks, dunes and the invigorating chill of the North Sea.

What makes Longsands Beach even more significant to me is that it's a place my partner and I are naturally drawn to. It's remarkable how, regardless of the time of year or the weather conditions, being there, hearing the calming sound of the sea, and feeling the refreshing sea breeze can instantly revitalise us. It's as if this spot possesses a kind of magic that brings a sense of vitality and renewal, regardless of life's challenges.

This sentiment is mirrored in the vibrant colour palette I've chosen for the painting—a palette that never fails to bring a smile to my face.
