Gin, Extra Dry Vermouth

A symbol of timeless elegance and sophistication.

Acrylic on canvas 100 x 100 cm / 39.2 x 39.2 in

I had never tasted anything so cool and clean. They made me feel civilised.

Ernest Hemingway

Throughout my ratio-ism artwork, the colour purple permeates in many pieces, serving as the perfect embodiment of gin's core ingredientjuniper. For centuries, this highly aromatic berry has mingled with an array of other botanicals, infusing each gin with its unique character.

Crafting the ideal recipe demands the finesse of a master blender, who wields extensive knowledge and a refined palate to comprehend the subtleties of each botanical. Their mission is to harmonise these elements, creating a spirit where the whole eclipses the sum of its parts. The Dry Martini stands as the ultimate testament to this artistry.

What distinguishes the Dry Martini is its understated simplicity, embodying the essence of "less is more." The matrimony of gin and dry vermouth, their botanical symphony, dances elegantly across the palate, evoking a harmonious fusion of flavours that captivates the senses.

Yet, that's the allure of this timeless classic: a blank canvas inviting exploration and customisation. Will you opt for a bone-dry interpretation, where vermouth tenderly grazes the gin? Or might you favour a bolder rendition where vermouth's herbal notes take centre stage?

The Dry Martini is your canvas; put your unique touch on it and make it a reflection of your own refined taste.

Preparation:

0.25oz / 7.5ml Extra dry vermouth (see below for other variations)

2.0oz / 60ml Gin

Lemon twist &/or olive

Prepare a lemon twist or olive garnish. Fill a martini or nick & nora with cubed ice and put it to one side. Add all the ingredients into a mixing glass and fill with cubed ice.  Stir for 15-20 seconds. Discard the cubed ice from the service glass and pour the cocktail into it. Garnish with a lemon twist, olives or both.
